LaneSense Helps Make Driving Safer in Our Country

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently issued a report that shows lane-departure warning systems are having a meaningful, measurable and positive effect on our country's roads. The study looked at data from accidents in the year 2015, coming to a conclusion that the technology has helped cut down on the number of injury-causing accidents by 21 percent.

The LaneSense Lane Departure Warning System, available on select FCA vehicles sold in the United States, helps drivers keep their vehicle in their lane by providing subtle steering wheel inputs that indicate inadvertent lane departures and help provide corrective actions. The system uses a camera-based vision sensor to determine the vehicle's position on the road; if it senses that a lane shift has occurred without the turn signal being used, it provides the driver with a warning. If the vehicle drifts too far, the system delivers a secondary visual warning.

LaneSense Lane Departure Warning-Plus is available on these 2017 vehicles:

  • Jeep Renegade, Compass, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee SUVs
  • Dodge Charger sedan and Dodge Durango SUV
  • Chrysler Pacifica minivan and Chrysler 300 sedan
  • Fiat 500X crossover
